Across Canada, federal and provincial governments are encouraging the purchase of electric vehicles with incentives. Below are the rebates and financial incentives in place today for purchasing new and used EVs and charging infrastructure.

Starting February 16, 2026, Canadians can receive a federal rebate when buying or leasing a new electric vehicle.
Incentives available:
Up to $5,000 for fully electric vehicles (BEVs)
Up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs)
Who qualifies?
The vehicle must be new
The final purchase price must be $50,000 or less (No price limit for EVs made in Canada)
The vehicle must be built in Canada or a country with a free-trade agreement with Canada
Only certain models, trims, and model years qualify
The price cap includes the vehicle, options, and dealer fees—but does not include taxes, government rebates, freight, winter tires, home chargers, or financing costs.

Canadian organizations and businesses can benefit from an enhanced first-year capital cost allowance on the purchase of an eligible ZEV. If you have ordered your vehicle but haven’t received it yet, please check with your dealer to ensure the iZEV rebate was applied. Up to $200,000 is available at the point-of-sale to Canadian businesses and to organizations for the purchase or lease of medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs. Trucks, cargo vans, shuttles, and other commercial vehicles fall into the medium- and heavy-duty vehicle category. Businesses, condo corporations, Indigenous communities, industry associations, schools, municipalities, and non-profits can receive up to 46% of total project costs, with a maximum of $100,000 per location.

Offered through the EV Charging Program (EVCP), funded by Natural Resources Canada and Alberta Municipalities.

EV drivers in British Columbia qualify for up to $4,000 toward the purchase or lease of a fully electric vehicle and up to $2,000 toward the purchase or lease of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. This incentive varies by income. Cars, Wagons, and SUVs must have an MSRP > $50,000. Minivans, Pickup trucks, and Vans must have an MSRP < $70,000. Home Charging Incentive (Single-Family, Duplex, Semi-Detached)
Get up to 50% (max $350) back on the installation of a Level 2 home charger.

EV Ready Plan – Up to 75% (max $3,000) for creating an EV Ready plan.
EV Ready Infrastructure – Up to 50% (max $600 per stall / $120,000 total) for electrical upgrades.
EV Charger Rebate – Up to 50% (max $2,000 per charger / $14,000 per complex). If EV Ready Infrastructure rebate is claimed, this drops to $1,400 per charger.

Workplace Charging

New Vehicle Rebate – Up to $5,000 – Program ended July 1, 2025
EV drivers in New Brunswick receive up to $5,000 toward the purchase of a new fully electric vehicle or long-range plug-in hybrid and up to $2,500 toward the purchase of a new short range plug-in hybrid. EV drivers in New Brunswick that receive a Plug’in NB Rebate are also eligible for the Home Charging Station Rebate, which provides 50% of the cost (to a maximum of $750) to purchase and install a home charging station.
Used Vehicle Rebate – Up to $2,500 – Program ended July 1, 2025
EV drivers in New Brunswick receive up to $2,500 toward the purchase of used fully electric vehicle and up to $1,000 toward the purchase of a used plug-in hybrid. EV drivers in New Brunswick that receive a Plug’in NB Rebate are also eligible for the Home Charging Station Rebate, which provides 50% of the cost (to a maximum of $750) to purchase and install a home charging station.

Yukon – Home Charging Rebate
